Background:
Cedar Key is a favorite vacation spot for Fred & Ann Hitzhusen, dear friends from Columbus. They've shared their experiences and enthusiasm for the area and gave us permission to see for ourselves.
We had a first today ... the temperature reached 87°F at 4pm in Cedar Key.
Leaving Carrabelle:
We visited with camping neighbors from Massachusetts before hitting the road. They had spent the previous week in New Orleans.

Along the way:
Most of the coast homes are elevated. We even saw elevated foundations with no homes on top. Signs of old and new storm damage appeared all along the route.
Sunset Isle RV Park:
This park and the people who run it are very nice. It isn't new, but it's well located on the main road into Cedar Key, it's well maintained and it has some nice sites by the water. We're liking it a lot.

We even have our own deck on the water. |
Others do, too. |
After getting set-up, we took an orientation drive around Cedar Key. It didn't take long, but it did help us plan for tomorrow.
We ended the day with shrimp dinners at Seabreeze Restaurant. It was not the best meal we've had. The view of the Gulf from the dining room was wonderful.

Plan change:
We've talked of going to Disney World on this trip. We priced 2 nights at Fort Wilderness Campground and 1 day at Disney World. It was over $400. Somehow, it didn't seem right to go without our children or grandchildren. There'll be no Mickey, Minnie or Pluto pictures on this trip.
Food Hints & Trivia:
We like Hardee's better than Wendy's, McDonald's, Burger King and Arby's. Hardee's and Carl's Jr. are owned by the same company and are essentially the same.
