Day 12 - Carrabelle, FL

The morning was overcast with a fine rain mist.  The sky cleared and the temperature reached the mid-70s by early afternoon.  It was a great day to enjoy sights and scenes in Florida.

We traveled 199 miles and followed the Gulf coast most of the day.  The drive along US-98E is one of our favorites.  The route:  FL-281N to Milton, FL-87S to Navarre, then US-98E through Fort Walton Beach, Panama City, Port St. Joe and Apalachicola.  We stopped at the Ho Hum RV Park, 4 miles east of Carrabelle.

Flashback:  We traveled most of this route on May 11, 2011 during our Southeast Trip.

Leaving Milton, FL
The Avalon Landing RV Park was a good stop.  The staff was friendly and helpful.  The facilities were well maintained.

On the way to Carrabelle:
We spotted this restaurant as we drove through
Panama City.  We ate here on a previous trip.
Is it OK to remember such trivia?
Gulf views are abundant along US-98
Gulls enjoy the Gulf, too
You just have to wait for some views
These views are why we really enjoy this route.

We didn't get a waterfront site at the Ho-Hum RV Park this time.  The park is full tonight.  The services are OK, but we've seen better.  We head for Cedar Key tomorrow.

Travel Hint:  Many restaurants in this area are closed on Monday.
